HISTORY
In 1980, Didier VERNEUIL was driven by his enthusiasm for the product to begin oyster farming. In spite of the difficulties and risks that may occur in this industry, he created his own company, DIDIER VERNEUIL. Verneuil’s courage and optimism enabled him to make a name for himself.
Much to his satisfaction, Verneuil passed his know-how and enthusiasm on to his son, Romain.
After finishing his education, Romain became an associate in his father’s company. Together, they founded the SCEA huîtres Verneuil (Verneuil Oyster Agricultural Company) in 2007.
After several years of experience, Romain sought to increase the value of their production and so he decided to branch out in 2012 alongside his sister Audrey and his partner Laetitia, with the acquisition of SARL VIKING MAREE.
The company sells their oysters, molluscs and shellfish directly to both professionals and individuals.
SCEA HUITRES VERNEUIL, PRODUCTION COMPANY
Father and son oyster farmers, Didier and Romain, grow and sell two categories of oysters: the Verneuil Fine and the Verneuil Special. The Verneuil family has two production sites in Normandy, cultivating the Fine oysters in Gouville sur Mer and the Special oysters in Veules les Roses.
These two categories differ not only by the place in which they are grown, but also the way they look, their taste. Their texture and flavour beyond compare that puts them amongst the best of the best.
Both categories have on several occasions been awarded prizes at the Paris International Agricultural Show.
It is for this reason that Didier, Romain, and the rest of the team pay particular attention to the way the oysters are cultivated and raised, to ensure the highest quality produce. SARL VIKING MAREE, TRADE COMPANY
The SARL VIKING MAREE has exclusive rights to sell Verneuil oysters to both professional clients as well as individuals.
Proud of its produce, Viking Marée also offers a daily delivery of molluscs and shellfish, selected and sorted by ourselves in order to guarantee the freshest, highest quality produce.
Primarily, we are supplied directly by local fishermen. Concerned with respecting the environment, the natural aspect and of course the quality of our produce, we scrupulously respect current regulations in force and pay particular attention to the traceability and freshness of our produce.
